Mitchell A. Schermer

Mitchell A. Schermer (Mitch) is a partner and trial lawyer with Morgan & Morgan’s Business Trial Group in Tampa, Florida. Mitch’s practice is dedicated to the representation of businesses, individuals, organizations, and associations in construction disputes. Specifically, Mitch focuses his practice on construction defect litigation, representing property owners, organizations, and associations whose homes, buildings, and/or infrastructure have been damaged due to defective construction and improper design practices. In addition, Mitch handles construction lien and payment dispute issues on behalf of both owners and contractors. The cases Mitch handles are complex, highly technical, and usually involve multiple parties; it is for these reasons that Mitch is proud to have recovered millions of dollars for his clients through high-stakes actions in courts and arbitration forums throughout Florida and across the country. Though Mitch’s current practice is almost exclusively dedicated to construction litigation, he has recovered significant sums of money for clients in commercial litigation matters arising from business torts, breaches of contract, partnership disputes, professional liability, and real estate matters.
Because Mitch litigates cases exclusively on a contingency-fee basis, clients can expect that Mitch will work tirelessly to assist them in obtaining the justice that they deserve, even against the largest and deepest-pocketed adversaries, including against some of the nation’s largest homebuilders and developers. The success fee model allows Mitch to invest significant time and resources in each case, putting his clients in the best position to right wrongs, and to be fairly and adequately compensated for their damages.
Mitch is rated “AV-Preeminent” by Martindale-Hubbell, demonstrating that his peers view him as exhibiting the highest level of legal skill, acumen, and ethical standards. This distinction is only awarded to approximately 10% of lawyers nationwide. Mitch has also been selected for inclusion as a ""Rising Star"" in construction litigation by Florida Super Lawyers Magazine, an honor bestowed on only 2.5% of Florida lawyers.
Mitch is the former president of the Stetson Lawyers Alumni Association’s Advisory Council, has been appointed to serve on Florida Bar Committees, and have given his time in service of non-profit organizations, including Florida’s Guardian Ad Litem Foundation.
Mitch is fluent in Spanish and maintains conversational proficiency in Hebrew, allowing him to better serve his clients.
