Business Trial Group Recognized for Top-100 Florida Verdict
The Business Trial Group earned one of the Top 100 verdicts in Florida in 2016 for their $784,898 recovery on behalf of a small business owner.
After a five-day trial, an Orlando jury awarded damages exceeding 100% of the damages that BTG attorneys Ben Webster, William Lewis, and Keith Mitnik had requested. The award was the 92nd largest in Florida last year, as ranked by TopVerdict.com.
Dixon Case Highlights Value of Contingency-Fee Model
The case—Nathan P. Dixon, GPN Inc., et al. v. Roman, et al.—involved claims that the defendant, national security alarm company Security Systems, Inc., breached its contract with the Plaintiffs and withheld hundreds of thousands of dollars from GPN, Inc. and Safe American Security, Inc., a pair of local alarm systems dealers owned and operated by plaintiff Nathan P. Dixon.
While the jury reached a verdict after five days of trial, the lengthy and contentious litigation lasted for more than three years and was a testament to the value of contingency-fee litigation for small business owners.
Contingency-fee litigation levels the playing field for our clients.
When firms bill by the hour, a wealthier defendant such as Safeguard America can stretch out litigation and drive up legal fees to the point where their opponent must settle the case for less than its full value.
However, the Business Trial Group’s contingency-fee litigation allows clients to see their cases through to completion, including trial when necessary. It is our experience that trial is sometimes the only way to secure full and fair client compensation.
The Business Trial Group is honored to be featured in Top Verdicts. We achieved an exceptional result in Dixon, but the case typifies the level of attention and diligence we give each and every client.
