Attorneys William Lewis, Jared Levy, and Valerie David won a $2,608,302.00 arbitration award for their clients against Robert W. Baird & Co. and financial advisor Michael Coombe (“Baird”). The award resolved a years-long dispute with the financial services company over the alleged mismanagement of the Claimants’ mother’s estate.
The Business Trial Group represented a widow seeking to inherit her husband’s estate. The husband’s brother argued that the “intestate” estate (property without a will) should pass solely to him, since the husband died while he and his wife were undergoing divorce proceedings and had, in fact, entered a partial settlement agreement disposing of some marital property.
The Business Trial Group (“BTG”) filed a lawsuit in Essex County, Massachusetts, against Mark Fagan and Joanne Fagan, alleging that Eugenia Subero has not been fully paid for more than seven years of 24-7 in-home care she provided to the defendants’ mother, an elderly dementia and Alzheimer’s patient. The lawsuit asserts damages for unpaid compensation in excess of $560,000.

Plaza Tower Realty Group, LLC, a real estate brokerage firm, hired law firm Boyd & Durant, P.L. to recover real estate commissions it was owed for securing buyers in a prospective high-rise condominium building in Tallahassee, Florida.
Attorney Amir A. Isaiah has joined the Business Trial Group as the chair of the firm’s new Restructuring, Insolvency, and Receivership practice. Isaiah will act as a receiver for both federal and state courts to marshal, manage, operate, restructure, and/or liquidate troubled businesses’ assets.
The Business Trial Group won the appeal of the jury verdict awarded to its client Alaqua Lakes Community Association for defective roads in the luxury community, leading to an $8.6 million recovery.
On August 4th, 2020, Florida’s 5th District Court of Appeal denied the appeal of developer Taylor Morrison. The court entered a per curiam affirmed (PCA) decision, ruling in favor of Alaqua Lakes. A PCA indicates that the points of law raised in the appeal are so well-settled that further writing would serve no useful purpose.
